Waxy flowers growing from bare rock along the coast near Redwood NP.
After finishing my second project with the trail crew, I drove out to the coast to see the Redwood forests. Shawn, a crew mate originally from the DC area and another recent college graduate intent on doing some wandering out west, joined me for this trip within a trip. We did a four day tour of the coastline, looping back to Burney Falls. It was great to have him along.
A beach made up entirely of driftwood. The ocean swallows the coastal forests here sometimes and spits them back out looking like this. When walking around this area of the coast, we were trying to find the St. George Lighthouse, but couldn't. How could we not find the tallest lighthouse on the west coast? As I later found out, it's on a rock 9 miles out to sea, and it was really foggy that day.
Myself and Shawn, making dinner on the beach and watching the sun set.
Scrambling around on the boulders jumbled on the beaches.
I love getting to watch the sun set on the West Coast. You have to get up much too early to watch it rise on the East.
