Mt. Shasta is a 14,000' dormant volcano in NorCal about 60 mi. from where I was doing trail work. We had a 4-day break in between trail projects. I took the first 2 days to relax and rest up at camp, then ventured over to Shasta for some hiking and snowboarding. I walked up to almost 10,000' on the snowy slopes where I took this picture - you can see at least one hiker, probably headed for the summit.
My snowboarding 'base lodge.' Hiking 2 mi. up a road still partially covered in snow in July, then hiking runs in 80-degree heat is an interesting experience.
